Following on from the AGM in which new officers of the committee were selected.
(1) Chairman’s Report:
Our previous chairman Richard was sent a card thanking him for 22 years of service to the people of Old Colwyn. We note that there are a few changes to the 20mph speed limit published recently. A new secretary is required; any volunteers please approach either directly or by email.
(2) Apologies:
Merfyn Thomas, Cllr Neil Coverly, Cllr Jason Higgins, PC Karl Barlow.
(3) Police Report:
Cllr Cheryl gave an update on recent issues in the village. There will be an opportunity of a “Cuppa with a copper” at a suitable venue. Ongoing issues at the Marine hotel, Queens court, Coed Coch and theft on beach road. The use of E-scooters is ongoing and has been reported. Drinking & consequent littering in the chapel of the Llanelian road cemetery. Miners lane fly tipping and paving slabs in Wynne gardens broken up.
(4) Treasurer’s Report:
Deferred to next meeting.
(5) Peulwys Fields, planning etc:
Meriadog road- Rough unused ground into formal planning tomorrow. We hope to hear an update on the consultation by September.
(6) Speed Sign:
Cllr Gail knows its whereabouts and is trying to sort out a replacement.
(7) Litter picking group/plan:
Paul Marl gave an update on recent work done by the litter pickers. Notable areas are the bottom of Queens road and the underpass. At the next suitable meeting, Paul will give a presentation on the groups aims.
(8) Summer Picnic In The Park:
St John’s church, This coming Saturday 11th July 2026-All welcome.
(8) Any other business:
Postal deliveries appear to be severely delayed, especially in Cambrian drive. Ongoing problems with the local health board New toilet facilities to the west of Porth Eirias. It was suggested that if a new facility is built, then the old existing unit should be demolished for the sake of good order on the promenade.
