(3) Present

(4) Police Report
Our PCSO, Matthew, and PC Steve Bevan gave and account of local activities explaining that staffing shortages was a constant problem when our dedicated officer was often required to cover other areas due to staff shortages. There had been anti social behaviour in several areas. Arrests had been made re the break in at Aldi. There is serious drug dealing in the vicinity of Churchill Close and it is important that residents report behaviour indicating this where possible via 101. The growing use of electric bikes is being monitored and Speed guns are to be deployed in Llysfaen Road and other areas. Residents are asked to report incidents of inappropriate use these machines. The officers were thanked for their interest. It is with the mutual cooperation of the public and the police that success is achieved.
(5) Secretary’s Report
It is pleasing to see the Police here and the resumption of our activities with good attendance.
(6) Treasurer’s Report
Brian had been in contact with Secretary to say that the funds are as reported at the Meeting of 5th July 2022, except for the £100.00 handed over to Saint Joseph’s re poster competition and £7.70p from last week’s collection
(7) Graffiti Project
Cheryl was to attend a meeting with the artist on 3rd August 2022
(8) Police Involvement in Community
This evening’s attendance by the Police shows that they are responding to our overtures to them. They may regard our meetings as their ‘surgeries.’
(9) B.I.D.
No further news but Cheryl told us that two local business people are monitoring the situation in order hopefully to safeguard Old Colwyn’s share of funding.
(10) Vacant Building Plots
Cheryl told us that discussions are continuing between London and Cardiff re existing legislation. David Jones MP is also aware and supportive.
(11) Summer Fair and Christmas Market
As reported at 5th July 2022
(12) Empty Council Offices
Discussions continue re this issue and our Councillors continually convey public disquiet appropriately. Further information to be reported.
(13) War Memorial
In spite of opposition from some Councillors, the proposal that Colwyn Bay Town Council adopt our War Memorial was passed thanks to the backing of our Councillors present tonight. There are strong feelings towards the men of Colwyn who paid the ultimate price so that their descendants, many of whom are alive today, could live in freedom. This Association has, and will continue to support the Council in its upkeep.
(14) Minafon Flats
No further information. Discussions continue and further developments to be reported.
(15) Any Other Business
(a) Ladies Old Colwyn Lunch
Took place at the Marine on 31st July 2022 and was a success. Brian and Cheryl attended.
(b) Heart Attack
A person suffered a heart attack at the Marine Hotel recently. The nearest defibrillator at Sure Hope Church had not been reactivated after a previous heart incident, so could not be used. Luckily an ambulance was called and the person survived. It was suggested that the Marine should have a defibrillator installed, but funding would be hard to obtain as it is too close to Sure Hope. Secretary to visit Sure Hope and ensure machine is re-activated as soon as possible. (further enquiries made at Sure Hope and the Ambulance Service indicate that the Sure Hope machine is still functional).
(c) Cycle Path Fencing
It was noted that the fence at the cycle path east of the rail arch bridge was in bad repair. Secretary will visit, and report to Network Rail.
(16) Closure
There being no other business, Meeting closed at 8.30pm.
